Wakame, also known as winged kelp, is a mild, slightly sweet brown algae. Our European Wakame comes from the species Alaria esculenta, which grows wild in the cold, clear waters of the North Atlantic. It is closely related to the more well-known Japanese Wakame, which is traditionally used in miso soups or seaweed salads.
