Atlantic Spirulina (today: Ulva lactuca var. spiralis, formerly: Enteromorpha spirulina) is a type of sea lettuce.
When you hear Spirulina, you usually think immediately of freshwater Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis and Arthrospira maxima), which is commonly available for purchase. Spirulina is often offered together with Chlorella. Chlorella is another freshwater algae.
The Atlantic Spirulina is a saltwater algae.
As a sea vegetable, Atlantic Spirulina has a slightly salty taste.
